Short answer
Choose a stock bottle when you want to launch fast with a small budget: no mold fee, orders from 300 pieces and production in weeks. Choose a custom mold when the bottle shape is part of your brand and you can commit to at least 500 pieces plus a one-time mold fee and a longer timeline for drawings and samples.
Side by side
| Stock bottle | Custom mold | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | None | One-time mold fee |
| Minimum order | From 300 pcs | From 500 pcs |
| Time to first goods | 15–30 working days | Longer: drawing, mold, samples, then production |
| Uniqueness | Others can buy the same shape | Shape reserved for your brand |
| How to stand out | Cap, decoration, colour, box | The glass itself |
A middle route: semi-custom
Most new brands make a stock bottle their own with a distinctive cap, frosting or a coloured coating, hot-foil logo and a fitted box. Customers recognise the whole set, not only the glass. When the line sells, the same neck size lets you move to a custom bottle later and keep your pumps and caps.
