Perfume Bottle Neck Sizes: 13, 15 and 18 mm, Crimp vs Screw

Updated 2026-10-15 · QARURA buyer guide

Short answer

Most perfume bottles use a 13 mm, 15 mm or 18 mm neck. Crimp necks (often called FEA 13 or FEA 15) take a pump that is pressed on permanently with a crimping tool; screw necks (usually 18/415) take a pump that screws on and can be refilled. The pump and cap must be ordered for the same neck size and type as the bottle.

How a neck size is measured

The neck size is the outside diameter of the glass finish where the pump sits, in millimetres. A "15 mm neck" means the pump collar is made to grip a 15 mm finish. Two numbers are sometimes given for caps, for example 15 mm / φ17.2: the first is the neck it fits, the second is the inside diameter of the cap, which must clear the pump collar.

Matching a pump and cap

  1. Start from the bottle and note its neck size and type.
  2. Choose a pump made for that neck. A 15 mm crimp pump will not seal on a 13 mm or an 18 mm neck.
  3. Choose a cap whose inner diameter clears the pump collar. Heavy designer caps often need a matching inner sleeve.
  4. Ask for a fit test with samples before production: dip tube length must reach the bottom corner of the bottle.

Every bottle, pump and cap in the QARURA catalog lists its neck, and each bottle page shows pumps and caps for the same neck.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most common perfume bottle neck size?

15 mm crimp (FEA 15) is the most common neck on 30 ml to 100 ml fine-fragrance bottles. 13 mm is common on small and travel bottles, and 18 mm screw necks on refillable bottles.

Can I put a screw pump on a crimp bottle?

No. A crimp neck has no thread, so it needs a crimp pump of the same size. Order bottle, pump and cap for the same neck.

Do I need a machine to close crimp perfume bottles?

Yes, a hand crimper or bench crimping machine is needed. For a few hundred bottles a manual crimper is enough.
